SWIM TEAM DADS RESTON, VA
We leverage our friendship to make a positive impact in our community through fitness, social and volunteer activities.
STD's TALK TRASH
12 Swim Team Dads (and offspring) took to the streets of South Reston today under a warm sun and plenty of blind turns as part of VDOT's Adopt a Highway program. Many area cyclists know this stretch of road for its undulations and Strava segment boasting. Today a different challenge was met and it's an honor that the Swim Team Dad's could take part in keeping Reston beautiful.
STD's GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
The Swim Team Dads are happy to announce their first charitable contribution of 2020 to the Helping Hungry Kids of Northern Virginia (HHK) program. In April the Swim Team Dads donated $1500 to the HHK which is an all-volunteer program providing weekend food bags and snacks to Fairfax County elementary school children who might otherwise go hungry.
ALERT! STD'S SURPASS FUNDRAISING GOALS
The Swim Team Dad's entered 2020 with modest goals and a humble past as a young 501c3. In just a few months of the new year over $8000 has been raised.
SWIM TEAM DAD FITNESS CHALLENGE RESULTS
Magnificent Seven! - Congratulations to Swim Team Dad members - Doug Bushee, Kevin Witt, Kenny Witt, Dan Spar, Koen Van Winckel, Dave Tipler, and Matt Schiller. Starting on January 1st, 2020, these seven men endured day after day of either running, cycling, lifting or other means of fitness (pre-approved by Judge Alyssa) as a means not just for personal well being but also by contributing to the overall mission of the Swim Team Dads. The STD's combine fitness with charitable contributions that impact our local community. Thank you fellas for not missing one day of working out and enduring hundreds of text messages daily for good measure!
Missy famously made this statement to no one in particular, so we decided to act. We take our fitness and commitment to our community seriously. As a collective group of Dads enjoying various activities, why not do something good while staying in shape or getting in better shape? We formed our 501c3 to allow "something good" to impact the community we live in.
SWIM TEAM DADS in Reston
With many miles riding our bikes, running the trails, or in the pool, we find further friendship in fitness. We regularly have fitness or activity-based challenges in order to keep our bodies and minds in shape. We plan to use these challenges to raise money for our chosen causes.
We understand that adapting new fitness habits is difficult and often times fails. Our focus is to not just change habits but to have fun and raise funds while participating, so that it continues to be a part of who we are and our community. We strongly believe that if you practice healthy habits, you will be able to obtain a healthy lifestyle. If you'd like to donate or participate, please contact us.
Swim Team Dads is fiscally sponsored by CORE Foundation which is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, tax-exempt number 20-5997764.
We are proud to provide support to the Reston YMCA so they can provide scholarships to attend Summer Camp in 2019. Many STDs enjoyed attending the 2018 YMCA Gala in November and presenting our check to the Y Leadership Team.
Your support and contributions will enable us to inspire through fitness, fund our mission, and help others in our community.
Donations are tax deductible through CORE Foundation, EIN number 20-5997764.
